Get Inclusive: Voices for Change

At the University of Portland, we are committed to fostering an environment that is safe and respectful for all community members. Each of us are called to honor and respect the inherent dignity of every individual. Whether you are returning to the Bluff or joining for the first time, we want all Pilots to know what it means to be a part of the UP community, and how to take care of themselves and each other. In keeping with these values, we require all students to complete a short training, Get Inclusive: Voices for Change.

Based on research, self-reflection, and concept application, Voices for Change is a key part of our efforts to become a community of engaged bystanders who can identify harmful situations and have the motivation and skills necessary to intervene. This training will cover topics such as Alcohol and Other Drugs, Hazing and Intimidation, Identities & Inclusion, and Consent & Sexual Violence.

Our goal is to ensure every student knows what it means to be a part of our community and how to take care of themselves and each other. We encourage you to keep the conversation going, and we thank you for your commitment to making our home on the Bluff a safe, healthy, and inclusive community for all.

If you have any questions or require an accommodation, please contact wellness@up.edu.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do I need to complete this training?

Please complete this training by September 15th. Students who do not complete this requirement will have a hold placed on their student account. A hold on your account would prevent you from ordering transcripts, registering for classes, and viewing your grades. Please complete this training as soon as possible to avoid running into any delays.

What happens if I miss the deadline?

Students who do not complete their designated modules will have a hold applied to their account. This hold will prevent affected students from:

  • Registering for courses.
  • Viewing grades once uploaded.
  • Withdrawing from courses.
  • Ordering transcripts.

Please note, it may take a few business days to remove the hold. It cannot happen immediately or automatically. To avoid running into any delays, such as registering for classes, please complete this training as soon as possible.

What do I need to do once it is complete?

Please download the certificate in case any tech issues arise and we come upon a discrepancy. If you completed this training before the deadline, our our records will automatically update to reflect completion. If you completed it after the deadline, a hold was placed, and it may take a few business days to remove it. If after a few days, there is still a hold on your account, please email wellness@up.edu for assistance.

Do I need to submit the certificate of completion?

No. However, please save the certificate should any tech issues arise and we come upon a discrepancy.

Where do I access the training?

To access the course, please go to Moodle. This year's course is titled "Get Inclusive - Freshmen" It is located there alongside your classroom courses. If you do not see it, it may be under “Past,” “In progress,” or “Future” courses. Additionally, it may help to organize your courses as “List,” instead of “Card,” and by “Course Name,” instead of “Last Accessed.”
