Wilson JacobVisiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Before joining University of Portland, Wilson Jacob taught chemistry at Portland Community College, Mount Hood Community College, and as an adjunct at UP for several years. He is interested in teaching all branches of chemistry. His research interest is in the synthesis of organic ligands, metal complexes, and structural, chemical, and reactivity studies of the complexes. He has published several papers in reputed international journals. After finishing his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, Wilson immigrated to the United States for postdoctoral studies at Oregon Health & Science University and Portland State University. He won the best graduate seminar in 2004 from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. He finished his M.S. from Mahatma Gandhi (MG) University, India with second rank (equal to salutatorian). He is the first rank holder (equal to valedictorian) in St. Thomas College, MG University, India for the B.S. program in chemistry. He qualified for the CSIR- UGC national eligibility test in India for research scholarship and academic instructor, and also qualified for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. His hobbies are philately, numismatics, travel, and listening to music.
