Major John David Gasa

photo of Major John David GasaMajor John David Gasa was born in Springfield, Illinois. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1997, serving at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He spent eleven years in the enlisted ranks, achieving the rank of technical sergeant, and served in multiple roles including weather observer, weather forecaster, weather apprentice course instructor, and noncommissioned officer in charge of operations. Maj. Gasa was awarded Air Education Training Command’s Master Instructor Certificate in 2008. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 2008 at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. Since commissioning, Maj. Gasa has served as the squadron readiness officer, I Corps liaison team officer in charge, squadron operations officer, weather flight commander, and joint meteorological and oceanographic officer. His military awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal w/3OLC, Army Commendation Medal w/1OLC, Air Force Achievement Medal w/2OLC, Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/2OLC, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and NATO Medal.
