Sharon Delcambre

Visiting Instructor, Environmental Studies

photo of Sharon DelcambreSharon Delcambre is an atmospheric and oceanic scientist with interests in community-based sustainability, regional climate change impacts and solutions, and the development of systems-based interdisciplinary teaching and learning. She earned her Ph.D. in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012. Since then Sharon has taught at Portland Community College, Clark College, Washington State University-Vancouver, Lewis and Clark College, and Concordia University in Portland. In her most recent position at Portland Community College, Sharon spearheaded a curriculum development project for a new Global Climate Change class, which is now being successfully offered at all campuses in face to face as well as online formats. She believes in the importance of hands-on learning, field trips, and community-based learning and loves watching students make the connection between the theory and application while in the field. She is a North Portland resident and is happy to have the chance to work as part of the Pilot team. In off hours, she is most often found in her garden, walking her extra-large dog, or exploring local parks with her family and friends.
