Health and Safety Practices

As a condition of returning to campus, all Pilots agree to adhere to the health and safety directives below.

Before You Begin Your Day

All Pilots must conduct a COVID-19 daily self-screen by taking their temperature and assessing symptoms.

  • If your temperature is above 100.4° Fahrenheit (38° Celsius), stay home.
  • If you have any of the following symptoms, stay home:
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath
    • Fever
    • Chills
    • Repeated shaking with chills
    • Runny nose/nasal congestion
    • Muscle pain
    • Headache
    • Sore throat
    • Gastrointestinal symptoms including nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
    • New loss of taste or smell

Wear Your Mask

All faculty, staff, and students will be provided with a reusable cloth mask. We encourage you to make or purchase additional cloth masks, as a clean mask should be worn each day.

Masks are an effective tool to protect against the spread of the virus, especially by asymptomatic people.

All Pilots in public spaces on campus are required to wear a mask at all times when they are or may be in the presence of other individuals. This includes common workspaces, public spaces, hallways, stairwells, elevators, meeting rooms, classrooms, breakrooms, campus outdoor spaces, and restrooms. Exceptions are a private room (office or residence hall room) or in a private vehicle.

A faculty/staff member who is having difficulty wearing a face mask/covering should contact the Office of Human Resources (hr@up.edu or 503.943.8484).

A student who is having difficulty wearing a face mask/covering, should contact Accessible Education Services (aes@up.edu or 503.943.8985).

  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Wash/sanitize your hands frequently, including when entering common areas, and while using shared workspaces

Physical Distancing

  • Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from other people
  • Do not gather in groups
  • Stay out of crowded spaces and avoid mass gatherings

Clean Your Workstation

For faculty and staff:

  • Wipe down commonly used surfaces in personal and shared spaces: keypads, coffee makers, printers, anything with a handle, phones, etc.
  • At a minimum, clean at the beginning of your workday.

Physical Plant will increase the frequency of routine disinfection of high-touch surfaces.
