It’s important to stay connected with your career goals during COVID-19. Rather than focus on the statistics, take this time to be proactive about your career readiness. Employers value flexibility, adaptability, grit, resilience, and communication among other career readiness competencies.   

Now is the time to demonstrate your skills and qualifications, and the Career Center is here to help.

Sharpen Your Skills

  • Update your resume, draft a cover letter, and hone your virtual interviewing skills.  
  • Check out the Career Center’s online Handouts & Resources to get started, then schedule an appointment with a staff member to review your materials or try a mock interview.  
  • Pick up a new professional skill or explore new interests on LinkedIn Learning.

  • Create your online presence. In this time of working remotely, employers will be using technology to find candidates. Update your profiles on Handshake and LinkedIn. 
  • Identify and strengthen your own personal network. Reach out to alumni via UP Switchboard

  • Attend a Virtual Information Session to gain inside perspective from recruiters. Check your Handshake Events page for current offerings.
