Next Port: Entering Formation with the Congregation of Holy Cross at Moreau Seminary

What are you most excited about for your Next Port?

I’m excited to dive into a new community and feel blessed to have the opportunity to continue my education in the coming year. I’ll be entering a very intentional community as well, so I think it’ll be very powerful and formative to live with a group of guys who are also trying to grow as a person and find their place in the world.

What is your favorite memory from UP?

My favorite memories are hanging out in Schoenfeldt Hall as a resident and an RA over the past 4 years. I remember one night during my sophomore year, myself and some friends set up a “living room” in the elevator, complete with a couch, tables, a movie and called it the “party-vator.” Sr. Sue Bruno (the hall director at the time) was not impressed, but it captures how fun living in the dorms can be and that’s special to me as it’s been a big part of my college life.

Was there a faculty or staff member, or department that specially helped you land your Next Port?

The Holy Cross community at large has played a big part in my choice to enter seminary next year, they’ve all been very supportive and open to any questions I might’ve had over the years. Fr. Gerry Olinger, C.S.C.  was my pastoral resident in Schoenfeldt Hall for three years and he was always incredibly joyful and welcoming. Getting to know him along with other members of Holy Cross really peaked my interest in their way of life pretty early on in my college career.
