Accounts Payable Intern at Cascade Aids Project

Zack Sims“As the Accounts Payable Intern, I am responsible for preparing journal entries for invoices that come into the system and creating new vendors that come into our system. I also prepare journal entries for various transactions such as cash receipts and disbursements, work on company payroll, and reconcile cash accounts.

The Cascade Aids Project does wonderful work by helping serve people that are in need. Growing up in the Portland area for my entire life, I wanted to help make a difference and this internship made that possible. I discovered this internship opportunity on Handshake, which is a website where employers post job openings and people can submit their transcripts, resumes, and cover letters through Handshake.

Internships are essential for any student to have regardless of what his/her major is. It gives students opportunities to discover what they will possibly be doing when they graduate from college, and if it is something that they can see themselves doing 20 years down the line. In addition, students will learn so much more doing an internship then they will ever learn in a classroom.

After graduation, I plan on obtaining my CPA license and work as an auditor for an accounting firm. Eventually I will switch over to corporate accounting as I want to experience the different opportunities that accounting has to offer.”
