Pre-Commencement Graduate Recognition Event

On Friday, May 7 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. the Pre-Commencement Graduate Recognition Event will occur.

Graduates will walk across the stage in front of Franz Hall, where they will have a professional photo taken with the President, Provost, and their Academic Dean. After walking off stage, the student will walk down the path to the middle of the quad where a second photographer will be present to get a photo. After the second photo, students are asked to leave.

Each student has been assigned a 5-minute window for their picture and students must arrive 15 minutes prior to their assigned photo window. Students should report to the Main Parking lot near Mago Hunt and the Clark Library where they will check-in and receive a card with instructions on how to line up.

There will be faculty and staff who will help line up students in order. Students should arrive wearing cap and gown and bring diploma cover for the pictures.

If you did not order or receive Cap and Gown, Jostens representatives will be available at the check-in area with extra Caps and Gowns.

The entire event will be live streamed and the link to the live stream is below.

COVID-19 Protocols:

Students need to get tested on campus through Carbon Health between April 26 - May 5. If you're not currently enrolled in testing, you should have received an email invitation from Carbon Health. You will receive a second email on Monday, April 26 with a link to schedule an appointment.

All people participating in the event are expected to follow UP's COVID-19 guidelines for individuals (wearing a mask, social distancing, etc.) leading up to and during the event. You will be allowed to remove your mask only for the two pictures.

We are limiting the number of people attending the in-person event to actual participants: graduates, faculty, and staff working the event. All friends, family, and guests (including UP community members not in the event) are invited to participate virtually.

To keep the ceremony as safe as possible, we will exclude:

  • Anyone with a positive test on or after April 23.
  • Anyone who has been placed in quarantine by UP, their healthcare provider, or their public health authority within 14 days of the event.
  • Anyone exhibiting COVID-like symptoms immediately before the event.
