About:

Christopher Haug serves as director of residence life at the University of Portland. He is responsible for all aspects of leadership and management of the Office of Residence Life, which includes oversight of student conduct for on- and off-campus students, student housing, and residential education and leadership programs. In addition, he serves as an adjunct instructor and Dexheimer Fellow with the Franz Center for Leadership where he teaches LDR 225 (Foundations of Leadership).

He recently received a doctorate in education at the University of Portland. Chris’ dissertation research was on the study of moral distress and associated factors among student conduct administrators in higher education. In addition, he holds a bachelor's degree in business and marketing secondary education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a master's in student affairs administration in higher education from Ball State University (Indiana).

Prior to the University of Portland, Chris served in student affairs administration at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana), Winthrop University (South Carolina), and Ball State University (Indiana). He and his wife can often be seen around campus on family walks with their children around the Bluff or cheering on the Pilots at soccer games at Merlo Field.  Chris is committed to creating safe, supportive, and inclusive residence halls communities where an education of the mind is just as important as an education of the heart.
