Fr. James King, C.S.C. arrived on the Bluff in 2018 as an instructor in Theology after a two year stint in Uganda where he served as District Administrator for Holy Cross in East Africa and taught at the local seminary. Prior to that he spent eighteen years in a variety of capacities at the University of Notre Dame: religious superior, director of Campus Ministry; instructor in business ethics and theology; residence life staff; vocation director; and on the University’s Board of Trustees. He previously served at the University of Portland as a history instructor, hall director, assistant director in the Office of Alumni Relations, and director of the Salzburg Program. He is the author of Known by Name: Inside the Halls of Notre Dame and Holy Cross and Christian Education.

In recent years Fr. King has enjoyed hiking, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and walking two camino routes in Spain. He is an avid reader of historical biographies. He is originally from Chicago and was ordained a Holy Cross priest in 1988. Fr. King is currently Pastoral Resident in Corrado Hall.
