Position Summary:

The Summer Operations Coordinator role will be responsible for overseeing all operational functions relating to on-campus conferences and camps; ensuring all aspects of our guest visits remain a high-quality experience. The Summer Operations Coordinator will be responsible for reporting directly to the Events Team and will supervise the Summer Operations Assistants. Please note, the Summer Operations Coordinator role is designated for University of Portland students who are currently enrolled for Fall classes. 

 

Dates of Availability: 

The Summer Operations Coordinator is required to be available from May 17th, 2022 - August 10, 2022. Given that we will have guests on campus throughout the summer, this includes availability on Memorial Day (Monday, 5/30/22) and July 4th (Monday, 7/4/22). This position typically requires 20-25 hours per week and cannot accommodate extended vacation requests. 

 

Compensation:  

  • Pay for this role begins at $14.00 per hour; increasing to $14.75 per hour per Portland Metro minimum wage increase effective 7/1/2022  
  • On-campus housing in shared living space 
  • Meal points to use for on-campus dining 

 

Job Responsibilities:

The Summer Operations Coordinator is the facilitator between the Events Team and the conference guests. In this guest-facing role, you will be responsible for the following: 

  • Ensure each conference group’s unique needs are realized, including having clean linens, proper AV and equipment set-up for events, and comfortable accommodations 
  • Responsible for weekly reporting to Events Team 
  • Will supervise 4-6 Summer Operations Assistants 
  • Responsible for delegating all urgent and non-urgent tasks to Summer Operations Assistant team, verifying completion  
  • Will perform room checks with the Summer Operations Assistants to ensure guest spaces are clean and ready for new visitors; ensuring prompt resolution of any identified issues
  • Will serve as the on-site facilitator for each group
  • Attend all required meetings
  • Will be responsible for ensuring the Operations Office remains clean and presentable for guests
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Requirements:

  • Current UP Student in good academic standing, able to provide verification of Fall 2022 enrollment 
  • Must be available to work on each of the aforementioned dates 
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, lift up to 30 lbs., climb and descend stairs unassisted 
  • Must have demonstrated successful supervisory experience 
  • Must maintain a professional presence at all times, including behavior and attire 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and successfully complete the UP HR driver’s safety training
