File a FAFSA

The FAFSA is the only required application for financial aid at the University of Portland. 

The FAFSA for the 2019-2020 academic year is available now. If you haven't filed yet, it's not too late!

The FAFSA for the 2020-2021 academic year will be available on October 1, 2019. File early for priority processing and maximum consideration.

  • Create an FSA Account - Parents and students must create their own accounts. This account gives you access to Federal Student Aid’s online systems and can serve as your legal signature.
  • FAFSA on the Web Worksheet - Use this to gather the information you will need to file your FAFSA.
  • Federal Student Aid: Filling out the FAFSA - This is the official Department of Education resource regarding the FAFSA. It includes instructions, FAQs, and trouble-shooting tips.
  • NerdWallet FAFSA Guide - This site provides detailed information and step-by-step instructions for completing the FAFSA.


  • How to Create an FSA Account - This tutorial will help you create your FSA ID. You will use this ID to sign your FAFSA, apply for loans, and complete other requirements throughout the process.
