The Health and Counseling Center is located in Orrico Hall, First Floor.
We're open Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. We close daily for lunch from 12:00 pm- 1:00 pm.

ProtoCall

ProtoCall allows students to speak with a counselor and get confidential support when the Health and Counseling Center is closed. To speak with a counselor, call the Health and Counseling Center at (503) 943-7134, and select Option 3. 

  • When to call ProtoCall:
    • To talk about a situation (ie, what to do if a friend is leaving concerning messages on social media.)
    • To get confidential support (ie, grief about a recent break up, death of a family member, fight with a friend)
    • To access crisis support (ie, sexual assault, thinking about suicide or self injury)

Call (503) 574-6520 to discuss health-related issues and receive guidance on next steps for care. This service is free to students and available all day, every day of the year.

Virtual Express Care

Providence Express Care Virtual

You can live video chat with a Licensed Nurse Practitioner who is able to provide treatment recommendations and prescribe medications, if needed. These visits are free to students and are available from 8:00 am to midnight, 7 days a week. To access this service, log onto the Providence Express Care Virtual portal on your computer, phone, or tablet by following the instructions below:

Computer:

  • Go to https://virtual.providence.org/ and sign-up for a new account or login to your existing account.
  • Follow the prompts to complete your profile.
    • When asked about health insurance, select "Skip this step/My plan isn't listed" because the University is covering the cost in full.
    • IMPORTANT: Enter "UPVIRTUAL" in the Service Key field to ensure that UP covers the cost of your visit.
  • Once your profile is created, test your computer by clicking "Test My Computer".
  • To begin your visit, select a provider that has a green "Start Visit" under their profile and follow the prompts regarding your concern/reason for the call.
    • Make sure you have your Student ID ready to show the provider.
    • For the Insurance section, select "My plan isn't listed" since UP is covering the cost and your insurance will not be billed.
  • Once connected, your visit will begin.

Phone:

  • Download the Providence Express Care Virtual app on your phone.
  • Select "Sign-up" for a new account or "Log in" to access your existing account.
  • Follow the prompts to complete your profile.
    • IMPORTANT: Under "Optional Information", enter UPVIRTUAL in the Service Key field to ensure that UP covers the cost of your visit.
    • Choose "No health plan needed" for your insurance.
  • To begin your visit, select a provider that is online, click "Wait for Visit", and follow the prompts regarding your concern/reason for the call.
  • Once connected, your visit will begin.
