I took Dr. Mark Pitzer’s Behavioral Neuroscience class in Spring 2025, and his infectious enthusiasm and passion for the subject significantly deepened my own interest, inspiring me to seek out a research internship in neuroscience. I secured a remote position as a Neuroscience Research Intern with ThinkNeuro from May through December of 2025.
I learned how to conduct bibliometric analysis on topics in neuroscience, medicine, and public health through R programming and Microsoft Excel, receiving a certification in Bibliometric Analysis and completing two graduate-level research abstracts and research posters.
During the first few months, I was placed on the neurodegenerative disease rotation, specifically focusing on Type 2 Diabetes and Alzheimer's. Near the end of the internship, I was recruited as an associate for the winter cohort, where I led a group of 15 interns focusing on neurodegenerative diseases and served as second author on the publication The Stress Alzheimer’s Axis: Investigating Cortisol Dysregulation and Disease Advancement.
One of my favorite moments in the internship was constructing a graduate-level poster. I had never created a poster before, so being able to learn how to assemble one was such a unique and valuable experience that I think will be quite beneficial for future research opportunities in graduate school.
