May 12, 2022 Important Update to UP On-Campus Masking Guidelines

The following message was sent to the University of Portland students, faculty and staff on May 12, 2022.

COVID-19 numbers in Multnomah County and among the campus community have risen again recently, and last week the CDC moved our county from “low” to “medium” risk level.  Following guidance issued today, May 12, by the Multnomah County Health Department, the University of Portland strongly recommends that all individuals wear masks while in campus indoor spaces (except individual offices), including classrooms.  Disposable masks are readily available throughout campus.

All new summer students and employees must be compliant with the University’s vaccination policy.  Policies for the upcoming fall semester will be communicated no later than July 15.

Self-test kits will remain available throughout the summer for all current UP faculty, staff, and students.  They can be picked up during business hours at the Health and Counseling Center or 24 hours a day at the Campus Safety office.  Anyone who tests positive is asked to report the positive test to the University through the main COVID-19 website and to follow Multnomah County guidelines for isolation.
