January 8, 2021
Dear Residential Student,
We are eager to welcome you to campus later this month for spring semester! We have put a number of safeguards in place to reduce the risk of COVID-19 on campus, including a public health campaign, screening, testing, contact tracing, isolation, and quarantine protocols. Please carefully read this email which will outline steps you will take as a member of our on-campus community, specifically in the area of symptom screening and testing.
We are happy to share we have partnered with a third-party vendor, CARBON HEALTH, to administer our COVID-19 screening and testing plan. You will receive an invitation from CARBON HEALTH to register on January 11, 2021. Please register upon receipt and follow these instructions (in this specific order) to download their app:
To start the program, you will:
This application will be your primary mode of communication with CARBON HEALTH for symptom screening, scheduling COVID-19 tests, and seeing your results. If you contract COVID-19, you will also use this application to schedule a telemedicine visit with a CARBON HEALTH medical provider. For technical support for the application, please contact up-support@carbonhealth.com. More information will be shared from CARBON HEALTH soon.
The Office of Residence Life has sent you an invitation to schedule a time to move into your residence hall. Prior to checking in at the hall, you will need to take a COVID-19 test. The testing center will be located in the Lund Family Annex across the street from the Chiles Center. Please arrive promptly at your testing time to ensure a smooth day for everyone.
Consistent with the guidance from state and federal health authorities, we will be conducting a second baseline for all students living on campus the week of January 25. You will get more information from the Office of Residence Life to schedule this second test which will be one week after your baseline 1 test.
As a residential student, you will also be part of our ongoing surveillance testing from February 1 to May 7. Students have been pre-assigned to pods based on stratified random samples and anticipated contact groups. You will be notified a week in advance when you are selected for surveillance testing which can then be scheduled on your CARBON HEALTH app.
Any student who experiences COVID-19 symptoms during the spring semester is required to: (1) immediately isolate in their residence hall room, and (2) report symptoms and triage with the Health and Counseling Center (503.943.7134).
In the spirit of collaboration and good will, we ask for your patience as we roll out this comprehensive screening and testing plan for our campus community. We have put a lot of thought and care into this plan but expect there to be some challenges from time-to-time. If you need support with scheduling or rescheduling testing or have questions about the app, please contact up-support@carbonhealth.com. For more general questions or to provide feedback, please contact one of us.
