Associate Director for Residence Life

Tyler Hale currently lives and works as the hall director for the Haggerty and Tyson community, in the North Quad, and also serves the Office of Residence Life as an Associate Director. Tyler holds a bachelor's degree from George Fox University in religious studies and a master's degree in religion from Yale University in New Haven, CT. Prior to his employment at the University of Portland, Tyler served as a student life fellow, providing spiritual and multi-religious programming for graduate students at Yale University. Tyler is a firm believer in addressing the unique needs of junior and senior college students while also creating opportunities for them to stay healthily engaged with the greater student body. For the Department of Residence Life, Tyler oversees the training and development of staff and students and supports leadership initiatives within our residence halls. Tyler's wife, Julie, is a social worker who works with children and teens in Columbia County; she loves living on-campus and is happy to talk with students interested in a social work career.
