Doucette/Eagin Loans

The Doucette and Eagin loans are awarded to undergraduate students with financial need. This is University-based loan program, with UP acting as the lender using funds donated by Blanche Eagin and Richard and Evelyn Doucette. It is a subsidized loan, with the interest being suspended during the in-school and 6-month grace period. There are no origination or default fees, and the interest rate is 5%. There is a 7.5-year repayment period. 

To qualify

  • Submit a FAFSA each year

  • Demonstrate financial need

  • Be a U.S. citizen

  • Be of sophomore, junior or senior standing (30+credits)

  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 credits)

  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements

  • Not receive Perkins or Nursing Loan

Award amount

  • Varies, depending on need up to $6,000 a year
