RA Application Process

2024-2025 Resident Assistant Application Process

UPDATE (1/22/2024): Due to the weeklong closure, the application deadline has been extended. Application will now close Friday, January 26, 2024 at 12pm PDT. All other dates remain the same including the Group Interview (scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 9am-12pm).

To apply for a Resident Assistant position, complete the online application linked below, but please read the following information prior to starting your application: 


  • November 1: Application opens (at 5pm PST)
  • November 6 - December 15: Information Sessions (various times listed below)
  • January 26: Application closes (at 12pm PST) (updated as of 1/22/24)
  • January 27: Group Interview (9am-12pm PST)
  • January 29 - February 2: Interviews (conducted by Hall Directors & Assistant Hall Directors)
  • February 9: Offers will be communicated to candidates
  • February 14: Deadline for offers to be accepted


How to Apply

Beginning Wednesday, November 1, 2023 (at 5pm PST), please complete 2024-2025 Resident Assistant Application on eRezLife. Click Job Postings on the home page's left menu.

All rising juniors and seniors are eligible to apply. Applications are due Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11:59pm PST.

The application will prompt each applicant to include the following:

  • Cover Letter (as a PDF)
  • Resume (as a PDF)
  • Two References* (one must be a UP staff or faculty member that you have worked with or for)

*Residence LIfe Staff (including current Administrative staff, Hall Directors, Assistant Hall Directors, and Resident Assistants) would not qualify.

For an overview of effective RA application and interview preparation, the Office of Residence Life recommends that interested candidates utilize the following Career Education Center resources:

Career Education Center Drop-In Hours

  • Monday - Wednesday: 2-4pm
  • Thursday - Friday: 10am-12pm

Interview Process

All applicants who are offered an interview will complete the following:

  • Participate in the Group Interview on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 9:00am - 12:00pm.
  • In-person interview with current Hall Director(s) and/or Assistant Hall Director(s).

Study Abroad Note: Any applicant that is studying abroad for the Spring 2024 semester will be offered a Zoom interview and participate in a virtual group-style interview. The Virtual Group Interview is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, January 28, 2024. Specific time will be dependent on time zones of applicants and full details will be shared with candidates as needed.


Leader Certificate Program

The Leader Certificate Program: The RA position aligns with the Leader Certificate. Through instruction, practice, and reflection over the course of 2-3 years, participants of the Leader Certificate Program are awarded a certificate upon graduation. The RA experience is a potential pathway to earning a Leader Certificate. We encourage interested students to enroll in LDR 225 - Applied Leadership, but it is not required for employment consideration.
