General Military Course

   * AS 101-102 Heritage and Values -- 1 credit hour per semester

This course allows students to examine general aspects of the Department of the Air Force, Air Force  and Space Force Leadership, Air Force and Space Force benefits, and opportunities for Air Force and Space Force officers. The course lays the foundation for becoming an Airman by outlining our heritage and values.

   * AS 111-112 Leadership Laboratory-- 2 credit hours per semester

Taken in conjunction with AS 101 and 102, respectively. It consists of a weekly laboratory including Air Force customs and courtesies, health and physical fitness, drill and ceremonies, leadership studies, leadership exercises, and Air Force officer career days.

   * AS 201-202 Team and Leadership Fundamentals-- 1 credit hour per semester

This course is designed to provide a fundamental understanding of both leadership and team building. It is imperative that cadets are taught from the beginning that there are many layers to leadership, including aspects that don’t always jump to mind.  Such things include listening, understanding themselves, being a good follower, and problem solving efficiently.

   * AS 211-212 Leadership Laboratory-- 2 credit hours per semester

Taken in conjunction with AS 201 and 202. It consists of a weekly laboratory including Air Force customs and courtesies, physical fitness, drill and ceremonies, leadership studies, leadership exercises, and Air Force officer career days. Provides students opportunities to demonstrate fundamental management skills and prepares cadets for Field Training.

Professional Officer Course

   * AS 301-302 Leading People and Effective Communication-- 3 credit hours per semester

This course teaches cadets advanced skills and knowledge in leadership and communication. Special emphasis is placed on enhancing leadership skills. Cadets have an opportunity to apply these leadership and management techniques in a supervised environment as juniors and seniors.

   * AS 311-312 Leadership Laboratory-- 2 credit hours per semester

Taken in conjunction with AS 301 and 302. It consists of a weekly laboratory including Air Force customs and courtesies, physical fitness, drill and ceremonies, leadership studies, leadership exercises, and Air Force officer career days. It provides students opportunities to use fundamental management skills while planning and conducting corps activities. 

   * AS 401-402 National Security/Leadership Responsibilities/Commissioning Preparation -- 3 credit hours per semester

This course is designed for college seniors and gives them the foundation to understand their role as military officers in American society. It is an overview of the complex social and political issues facing the military profession and requires a measure of sophistication commensurate with the senior college level. Special topics of interest focus on the military as a profession, officership, military law, evaluations, and joint warfighting.

   * AS 411-412 Leadership Laboratory-- 2 credit hours per semester

Taken in conjunction with AS 401 and 402. It provides the opportunity to use leadership skills in planning and conducting cadet activities while preparing students for commissioning and entry into the active-duty Air Force.

 

Field Training

   § Two-Week Field Training (summer)-- 0 credit hours

Field Training at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama provides an opportunity for evaluation of leadership skills in an intense 2-week encampment combined with cadets from around the nation.

This course is normally attended in the summer between sophomore and junior years and is a prerequisite for AS 301.
