What Will I Learn in the Aerospace Engineering Minor?

In the Aerospace Engineering minor, you’ll build a solid understanding of the principles that make aircraft and spacecraft fly. The program provides a solid foundation in aerodynamics and flight mechanics, with opportunities to specialize through advanced electives in vibrations, combustion, propulsion, and stability and control. You’ll develop the skills to analyze and design key components of air and space vehicles while applying fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and control theory to aerospace applications. This minor complements your engineering major and prepares you for careers in aircraft/spacecraft design, propulsion system engineering, as well as aircraft/spacecraft dynamics modeling and control systems. 

Aerospace Engineering Courses

The Aerospace Engineering minor combines required and elective courses to give you a solid foundation in the science and engineering of aircraft and spacecraft.  Required classes include The Science of Flight, Fluids II, and Aerodynamics, where you’ll learn the fundamentals of lift, drag, and aircraft performance. You’ll then choose two electives to gain deeper expertise in areas such as propulsion, combustion, vibrations, or aircraft stability and control, giving you the flexibility to tailor the minor towards your interests and career goals.
