Choose from two degree options:

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Biology: Tailored for students seeking a broad liberal arts education who may want to double major or minor in business, education, communication, or more.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology: Ideal for those pursuing medical school, research, or graduate studies, offering a science-intensive curriculum with advanced courses in biology, chemistry, and mathematics.

Both paths in biology emphasize hands-on learning, ethical decision-making, and the integration of faith and reason—hallmarks of UP’s Holy Cross tradition.

BA in Biology Courses

In the BA in biology program, you can mold your education to fit your interests and goals. Alongside foundational biology courses, you can choose electives in areas like entomology, mammal ecology, and human anatomy. BS in Biology Courses

The BS in biology degree program emphasizes a deeper understanding of the natural sciences. Complete advanced courses in biology and a two-semester sequence in chemistry, physics, or mathematics to gain the technical expertise you need for careers in medicine, scientific research, or graduate studies.

You will also engage in a capstone project and lab work, developing hands-on skills that set you apart and ensure you’re ready to tackle complex challenges in science. If you’re pursuing a healthcare career, the pre-health track helps you meet the prerequisites for medical, dental, and other professional schools.
