"I view teaching as a collaborative space where we are co-creators of knowledge, with our diverse perspectives, histories, and backgrounds strengthening our shared learning."
Dr. Anna Winquist is an educator with an interdisciplinary background spanning clinical practice and academia. Her work is grounded in intellectual humility, student-centered learning, social justice and equity, and strength-based approaches. She integrates research and lived experiences into teaching to create engaging, equitable learning environments where students are positioned as co-creators of knowledge, developing critical thinking and self-reflection skills while cultivating a confident voice in shaping healthcare systems, policy, and outcomes.
Anna brings extensive experience across hospitals, community health settings, nonprofits, and public systems, with clinical expertise in perinatal and maternal-fetal health, forensic nursing, and community health. Her work focuses on the intersections of trauma, violence, health disparities, social determinants of health, and community partnerships.
Anna’s research centers on child protection, with an emphasis on the contributions of nurse and midwife researchers in strengthening families and safeguarding children. She collaborates with interdisciplinary partners and advances this work through youth participatory action research and arts-based research.
Anna loves being with her family and dogs. She enjoys being outdoors and working out.
