Major Garret W. Waugh attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and commissioned as a military police officer in 2010. Over the course of the next fifteen years leading up to assignment at the University of Portland, Garret served in various leadership and staff positions gaining experience in platoon and company leadership, military law enforcement, security, noncombatant evacuation operations, observer-coach/trainer duties, and staff leadership up to the brigade executive officer level. He also attended the Military Police Captain’s Career course and Army Command and General Staff College. Garret has been stationed at various locations within and outside the United States, including Germany, Korea, and nearby Joint-Base Lewis McChord. He and his family are excited to return to the West Coast to be near family and friends, serve in this new position at the University, and enjoy all the outdoor adventure opportunities the Pacific Northwest offers.
