About

Jordyn (Jordy) Wolfand is an Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Portland and a licensed Professional Engineer in Oregon. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Tufts University and both her M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University.

Dr. Wolfand joined the faculty at UP in 2020. Prior to UP, she was a postdoctoral research fellow and adjunct lecturer at Colorado School of Mines. She teaches introductory engineering courses, as well as classes within water resources and environmental engineering.

Her research focuses on urban water systems and sustainable stormwater management, including green infrastructure design, the fate and transport of emerging contaminants such as microplastics and pharmaceuticals, and water supply risk and resiliency. Her research often combines environmental field work with data science and computational modeling. She also conducts research in engineering education, particularly on the first-year engineering experience.

At the University of Portland and the Shiley School of Engineering, her contributions span faculty compensation, search advocacy, honors mentoring, and key curricular initiatives—including leading task forces, coordinating introductory engineering courses, and sponsoring multiple student capstone projects. Professionally, she acts as a science advisor for Blue Forest Conservation, maintains an active peer-review record across major environmental and water resource journals, and often contributes expert insights to regional environmental policy advisory groups.
