About

Kate Stagl-Hughes is an Instructor of Civil Engineering at the University of Portland's Donald P. Shiley School of Engineering. She holds a B.S. from Oregon State University and an M.S. from the University of California, Davis.

Kate joined the faculty at UP in 2022. Her teaching spans foundational civil engineering topics and she brings a passion for encouraging students — particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds — in the pursuit of higher education and careers in STEM.
