"I am thrilled to educate and mentor future nurses, empowering them to become the next ethical leaders in healthcare who will make the world a better place."

Katie Stempel received her doctor of nursing practice and bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Portland where she studied abroad in Perth, Australia for a semester. She is a certified family nurse practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. During nursing school, Katie gained experience caring for underserved populations by traveling to Guatemala on a surgical mission trip every year for one week. While obtaining her D.N.P., she became the mission coordinator for the trip and has served on a total of fifteen missions. After obtaining her nursing license, Katie became a nurse resident in a high-risk labor and delivery department in Portland where she still works today. She developed a passion for education by mentoring and precepting new nurses on her unit. She also volunteers as a childbirth educator for Mount Hood Ski Patrol. Katie has a passion for women’s health, caring for diverse populations, and mentoring healthcare professionals. She hopes to embody the nurses, educators, and mentors who inspired her to become the nurse she is today. When not working, Katie is outside enjoying skiing, hiking, scuba diving, traveling, and spending time with family.
