About

Khondaker Musfakus Salehin is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Portland's Donald P. Shiley School of Engineering. He holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology in Bangladesh, an M.Sc. in Telecommunications, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, both from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Dr. Salehin joined the faculty at UP in 2022. His teaching spans computer networks, data communications, and related topics in computer science and engineering.

His research focuses on performance measurements of wired and wireless networks, and more recently has expanded into areas including quantum key distribution, blockchain for environmental monitoring, and cybersecurity. He has co-authored 21 scientific publications, holds three U.S. patents, and has received multiple awards, including the New Jersey Inventors Hall of Fame Award for contributions to network-performance measurement. He is a senior member of IEEE and regularly serves on IEEE conference technical committees and editorial boards.

Khondaker is broadly engaged in service at UP and within the professional community. At UP, he serves as Faculty Advisor for the ACM Student Chapter, sits on the Curriculum and Academic Regulations Committee, and has contributed to the Shiley School Retention Task Force and various outreach events including Weekend on the Bluff and Family Weekend. Professionally, he is deeply active in the IEEE community — serving on the technical program committees of major conferences including IEEE ICC and IEEE GLOBECOM continuously since 2016, reviewing for more than a dozen IEEE and other leading journals in networking and communications, and serving as an external thesis examiner for the University of Oslo.
