Matthew Kuhn is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the Donald P. Shiley School of Engineering. He specializes in geotechnical engineering and geomechanics, having earned his Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. He teaches course in mechanics of materials, numerical methods, structural mechanics, and geotechnical engineering. He has published 50 journal articles and is the author of the book Granular Geomechanics. He has been awarded the university’s teaching award and scholarship award, and he is currently the chair of the civil engineering program.
