Ruth Dittrich

About

Ruth Dittrich is an associate professor of economics at the University of Portland's Pamplin School of Business. She obtained her Ph.D. in the economics of climate change adaptation at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Prior to her Ph.D., she worked at the Europe Research Center of Harvard Business School in Paris, France and at the European Association of Chamber of Commerce in Brussels, Belgium. Ruth holds a M.Sc. in economic policy from the University of Birmingham, UK. For her B.A. in economics, politics and sociology, she studied at the University of Erfurt, Germany, the University of Sheffield, UK and the Institut d'Etudes Politques in Lyon, France.

Ruth focuses her research on decision-making for climate change adaptation to support communities and regions in planning her climate change impacts such as increased flooding and the incidence of more frequent heat waves. She also has a research interest in the economic impact of climate change on the wild salmon population in the Pacific Northwest. Her specialization is in robust decision-making methods that work well in situations of uncertainty such as in the context of climate change.
