"I'm looking forward to working alongside student nurses and coming home to the University of Portland community."

Sydney Garl graduated with a bachelor of science in health promotion and education from Oregon State University in 2005 and with a  bachelor of science in nursing from University of Portland in 2007. Sydney has worked as a registered nurse in various nursing roles over the last 19 years, including in hospitals, clinics, schools, and community-based settings in the Portland metro area. Sydney worked with University of Portland nursing students as a clinical instructor on the neuro-vascular inpatient units at both Providence Portland and Providence St. Vincents Hospitals. She also worked with UP nursing students as a clinical instructor during her time as a school nurse in the Beaverton School District. She has always enjoyed teaching students and is thrilled to be entering the world of nursing education. She is hoping to pursue a master’s degree in nursing education in the near future.
