About

Fr. Tyler Kreipke, C.S.C., is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Portland's Donald P. Shiley School of Engineering. He holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in biomaterials from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Notre Dame (focusing on bone mechanobiology), and a Master of Divinity from Notre Dame. He professed final vows in the Congregation of Holy Cross in 2023 and was ordained to the priesthood in April 2024.

Fr. Tyler joined the faculty at UP in 2025. He brings together the dual vocations of priest and engineer, and his teaching reflects his commitment to forming students not only as skilled engineers but as people of character and purpose.

Fr. Tyler has embraced service across both the university and his ministerial role since joining UP in 2025. He serves on the Presidential Advisory Council on Sustainability, the Shiley School Dean Search Committee, and the Vice President for Financial Affairs Search Committee, and contributed to the ME Department's Professionalism Code Task Force. Beyond his academic duties, he serves as Chaplain for the Men's Soccer team and advisor for the Electric Vehicle Club, reflecting his commitment to accompanying students both inside and outside the classroom. Professionally, he serves as a reviewer for the Engineering Design & Graphics Journal.

Outside of his ministerial and professional life, Fr. Tyler likes being outside and appreciating the beauty of creation, especially while biking, running, and hiking. He also enjoys practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, reading, and drawing.
