"I chose UP for the opportunities it provides to first-generation students and the programs it has to set students up for success. UP helped me become more confident in my abilities as a leader and as a registered nurse. I especially enjoyed being able to connect with my peers in both a professional and personal manner during simulations in the sim lab. Being placed in such unique scenarios together provides a chance to connect. You also become more comfortable providing feedback and advocating for your patients. In my career, I feel that I can connect with my patients, families, and coworkers on a deeper level thanks to sim. I think every experience I had at UP provided a lesson for the future. During one of my last clinical rotations, I was very lucky to have been placed in a NICU, which inspired my career today. I love being able to build longer-term relationships with families and watch babies progress."
