Reading, writing, math, organization, and processing information can present different challenges. AES helps students explore accommodations for exams, course materials, and written work, including assistive technology and other tools that improve access.

Mental health conditions can affect concentration, communication, stamina, and other aspects of university life. AES helps students explore accommodations for testing, course scheduling, and other supports that improve access to learning and the campus environment.

Students coming to college with long-term health conditions such as diabetes, celiac disease, or POTS may experience barriers that affect daily routines, stamina, or access to campus activities. AES helps students explore accommodations for course scheduling, environmental needs, and campus living, including housing and dining supports.

Stairs, classroom furniture, building layouts, and distances across campus can make getting around and accessing University spaces challenging. AES works with students and campus partners to explore accessible spaces, suitable furniture, and scheduling accommodations that make navigating campus easier.

Hearing loss, vision limitations, and sensory sensitivities may affect access to discussions, materials, or campus spaces. Captioning or sign language interpreting may support spoken content. Accessible formats and assistive technology may support course materials.

The descriptions above highlight some of the ways disabilities affect students and the areas where AES can provide support. Students with the same disability often experience different barriers and have different accommodation needs. AES considers each student's needs and the essential requirements of University programs and activities when determining reasonable accommodations.
