Spaces & Equipment

The LEED Platinum Certified Shiley Hall is the main engineering building at UP.  There are dozens of classrooms, three computer labs/classrooms, a community gathering space, study areas, teaching labs, research labs, and faculty/administrative offices.

Spaces Include:

  • Murdock Trust Study Center - open center with computers, whiteboards, printers, and more.  It is great for collaborating!
  • Howard Vollum Community Center - casual space for students, faculty, and staff can gather to chat, play board games, or just take a break from the hustle and bustle of college.
  • Laboratories - there are nearly a dozen different labs (17,000 square feet total!) for students to get hands-on experience with cutting edge technology.
  • Photovoltaic System - a grid-tied photovoltaic system on the roof of Shiley Hall produces 5,000-6,000 kWh of electricity per year. Thank you to our donors: Paul and Deborah Speer, James Male, Gary and Rosaline Fleming, and Karsten Zuendel.
