We operate on a rolling admissions cycle and begin reviewing applications on September 1. UP accepts the University of Portland application or the Common Application. We give equal consideration to both applications and do not have a preference between the University of Portland application or the Common Application.
Recommended Video Resources for First-Year Applicants
We recommend applying by our priority deadline of November 15. The Office of Admissions will begin the evaluation process for each individual applicant as soon as the application is complete. Please allow 3-4 weeks for your documents to be processed and verified.
Accepted students who wish to attend UP in the upcoming fall must confirm their enrollment by May 1.
The first-year class for the 2021-22 year entered with a middle 50% SAT score of 1170 to 1340, middle 50% ACT composite score of 26 to 31, and an average GPA of 3.66 (cumulative and unweighted.)
Submit all of the documents in the checklist, and our Office of Admissions will process them and review applications as they come in.
Applicants interested in nursing must declare nursing as their intended major on the application. Please note: Students admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program must complete a high school or college level general chemistry course prior to beginning the program.
Please note: If you have already requested or submitted your supporting documents, please allow additional time for processing.
Please note that we will superscore the SAT and take the highest composite ACT score.
For applicants applying for admission through Fall 2024, University of Portland is test optional. On your application, you will indicate if you would like your scores to be considered in evaluation. Your application will not be at a disadvantage if test scores are not included. Should you wish to include your scores there are three ways to submit your test scores for the purpose of admission. Record self-reported scores on your application, download the score report (PDF) through your CollegeBoard/ACT account and send to admissions@up.edu, or have the testing agency submit your scores for you (our ACT code is 3500 and our SAT code is 4847).
*If self reported scores are used for admission purposes, you are required to submit official test scores if you decide to attend University of Portland.
Your letter of recommendation may be sent electronically or emailed to admissions@up.edu from your recommender.
An official high school transcript may be sent electronically or emailed to admissions@up.edu by your high school counselor or registrar. Mailed transcripts are to be sent to:
