Immunization Requirements 2023-2024

MMR Vaccinations

According to Oregon State Law, students are required to show proof of receiving two doses of the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine. These vaccine doses must have been administered at least 28 days apart and after the student is 12 months of age.

Effective Fall 2019, every full-time, part-time, graduate, and undergraduate student born on or after January 1, 1957 must provide these dates along with their immunization record or  acceptable proof of immunity (see list below).

Acceptable proof of immunity:

  • You were born before January 1, 1957
  • You received a measles titer and the report indicates that you are immune. The Student Health Center can provide active students a lab order to get a measles titer at any lab that is covered by their insurance.
  • You have a signed physician or nurse practitioner statement indicating you had the disease and what date that occurred.
  • You have a signed physician or nurse practitioner statement that verifies you have a medical reason for not receiving the immunization (e.g., anaphylactic reaction to eggs, immune-compromised state, pregnancy, etc.).
  • You are claiming a non-medical exemption and have received a Vaccine Education Certificate.

This information can be uploaded through the patient portal. This information must be uploaded directly by the student.

Step-by-step Guide to Upload MMR Dates

A registration hold may be placed on the student's account for the following semester if this information is not uploaded 1 week prior to Fall or Spring break.

COVID-19 Vaccinations

The University of Portland is no longer requiring students to be vaccinated for COVID-19. The University strongly recommends students be fully vaccinated and stay up-to-date on their vaccinations by receiving the most recent recommended boosters. You can find the most recent information and vaccine recommendations on the CDC’s website.

This decision was made after consulting local public health experts, CDC, OHA, and Multnomah County guidelines.
