The political science and global affairs major explores how institutions work, why social change is difficult, and how to think creatively about social problems, legal questions, and democracy. Political Science and Global Affairs Courses

The political science and global affairs major covers the fields of American politics, comparative politics, international relations, and political theory. It focuses on conceptual, historical, structural, institutional, behavioral, and normative strategies for gathering and analyzing information about political life.

Required courses in political inquiry and analysis, world politics, political theory, and United States politics establish the base of your degree, covering central topics vital to thriving professionally in political, legal, and economic institutions. Upper-level electives allow you to tailor your plan of study to your interests and career goals in courses like globalization and its discontents; politics of hip hop, race, and law in the US; constitutional criminal procedures; and Congress and the presidency.

The political science and global affairs major comes together through the senior capstone experience. In this project, you will exhibit your cumulative knowledge from the program, conducting analytical research with the option to add a thesis under the direction of a faculty advisor.
