Kenna Hall was originally called Holy Cross Hall when it opened in 1959 as a men's dormitory. The building was renamed in 1973 to honor the University's 14th president, Rev. Howard J. Kenna, C.S.C., and it served as a women's hall for a short time in the 1980s and a coed hall in the 1990s and early 2000s before becoming a women's hall again. Today the building features a pottery lab and a renovated basement lounge with ping-pong and pool tables. The hall is home to approximately 200 women in its 103 rooms. The building also houses the University's Air Force ROTC offices.

Kenna is a relaxed, friendly hall community known for fostering a welcoming atmosphere and thoughtful conversations. The medium size of Kenna makes it easy for residents to get to know their neighbors. Kenna's residents and staff work together to build a community that celebrates the uniqueness of each individual, while creating lasting connections and developing a comfortable sense of belonging. Residents keep their doors open and appreciate the warm and welcoming atmosphere in the hall.
