Apply for Conditional Admission
University of Portland offers conditional admission to undergraduates who are applying for a home government scholarship and need to improve their English language skills prior to beginning classes at the University. Students seeking conditional admission must meet all application requirements, with the exception of an English language proficiency exam score.
Conditional Admission Checklist & Policy
Conditionally admitted students:
- Must meet our minimum English language exam score requirement before they can earn full admission and begin classes at University of Portland. (University of Portland accepts a TOEFL iBT score of 71 or above, or an IELTS score of 6.5 or above)
- Upon satisfying the English language exam score will be fully admitted and eligible to begin classes in the next available term.

- Undergraduate Application:
- First-Year Student Application (for applicants with no post-secondary coursework)
- Transfer Application (for applicants with some college or university coursework)
- Official secondary school records (for students with less than 1 year of university coursework)
- Official ESL, college and/or university transcripts (if applicable)
- Secondary School Report / Recommendation Form (for first-year student applicants only)
- Essay (for first-year student applicants only)
- Written notification that you are applying for a home government scholarship
Note: to insure proper delivery of your admission notification please provide a complete mailing address in the application which includes the address street number or a PO Box number AND a postal code AND a telephone number
All documents submitted to UP become the property of the University and cannot be returned to applicants.
Communication between Applicants, Educational Advisors, Family Members, Agents and International Student Services (ISS)
1. Applicant's home address is required in the "Permanent Address" field
2. If the applicant's mailing address is different than the permanent address, or the applicant's address is in care of (c/o) of another person, indicate this in the "Mailing Address" field
3. Applicant's personal email is required in the "Email" field
4. ISS staff will communicate directly with applicant if further documents are needed to complete the application
When communicating with International Student Services on the behalf of an Applicant:
1. Family members and agents are required to send an email to ISS at intl-adm@up.edu, which includes the applicant's full name as it appears on the application, applicant's date of birth, and relationship to the applicant
2. It is required that the applicant is copied (CC:) on all email correspondence with ISS
3. ISS will copy (CC:) the applicant on all email correspondences with educational advisors, family members, or agents
Notification of Conditional Admission:
1. Conditional admission notification will be sent via United States Postal Service first-class mail to applicant's mailing address.
Timeline
| February 1 | Deadline for nursing transfer applications for Fall and Spring term entry. |
| April 15 | Deadline for Summer term (starts early may) transfer (non-nursing) applications. |
| June 1 | Deadline for Fall term (classes begin late August) first-year student and transfer (non-nursing) applications. |
| November 15 | Deadline for Spring term (classes begin mid-January) first-year student and transfer (non-nursing) applications. |

Required International Academic Records
