International Transfers Student Checklist

For admission purposes, applicants are considered an international student if they are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, and they plan to attend the University in a valid non-immigrant visa status (F-1, J-1, E-2, H-4 visas as well as others). Review the checklist of required application items and don’t miss any important dates.

Checklist for International Transfer Students

  • Transfer Application
  • Official secondary school records (this is required if you have less than 26 semester, or 39 quarter credit hours)
  • Official college or university transcript(s)
    • We require official transcripts from every institute, college, university, or post-secondary school you have attended or are currently attending.
    • English proficiency exam
      • Non-native English speakers who will complete 1 year (2 semesters or 3 quarters) of university-level coursework that includes 1 semester (or 2 quarters) of writing and composition may be waived from the English proficiency requirement. Minimum score requirements and further information is available at our English Proficiency Requirements page.

Note to NURSING applicants: 

  • The application for Summer 2024 transfer entry is closed. 
  • Applications for Summer 2025 transfer entry are accepted between September 1, 2023 and April 5, 2024. The application form is available here.

Note to ENGINEERING applicants: Engineering programs have additional prerequisite requirements for transfer admission eligibility; please review the Engineering transfer criteria, and contact intl-adm@up.edu if you have questions.

Additional Items (post-acceptance)

These two items are needed if you are accepted to the University in order to complete immigration form processing. The earlier these items are received the better we can assist you.

All documents submitted to UP become the property of the University and cannot be returned to applicants.



Timeline

April 15
Deadline for Summer term (starts early may) transfer applications 

June 1
Deadline for Fall term (starts late August) transfer applications 

December 1
Deadline for Spring term (starts mid-January) transfer applications
