Financial Aid: Graduate Loans
An education loan is a form of financial aid that must be repaid, with interest. Education loans for graduate students come in two major categories: student loans (e.g., Stafford and Grad PLUS) and private student loans (also called alternative student loans). A third type of education loan, the consolidation loan, allows the borrower to lump all of their loans into one loan for simplified payment.
Student Loans
Student loans are loans taken out in the name of the student. They must be used for educationally related expenses, such as tuition, room, board, books, and any other cost associated with going to college. Below are the types loans available to students at the University of Portland. Not all loans are available to all students. Check your award letter to see what you are eligible to receive.
