Garaventa Center
The Garaventa Center for Catholic Intellectual Life and American Culture was established in November 2004 with a gift from the Garaventa family of Concord, California. The mission of the Center is rooted in the identity of the University as a Catholic, Holy Cross, and American institution of higher learning, and hence is especially obligated to contribute to the intellectual, moral, and religious development of our communities to serve the common good.
The Garaventa Center is dedicated to celebrating the University’s century-old Catholic tradition through examination of the intersection of Catholic intellectual life and American culture, while carrying the extraordinary message of Christ into the heart of our society. The Center strives to integrate study and reflection both within and outside the University community through conferences, lectures, dialogues, and exhibits.
If you would like to make a contribution to the Garaventa Center please call (503) 943-7702 or email us at powell@up.edu. No matter how big or small, a gift you give to the Garaventa Center will help us continue to provide students, faculty and the Portland community with access to impressive speakers and events in support of Catholic life and the Catholic intellectual tradition.
