How do I make an appointment to see a counselor?Individual appointments can be scheduled by calling 503-943-7201 or stopping by the Office of Career Services, Orrico Hall, lower level.

What services are available through the Office of Career Services? Professional staff members are available to meet individually to discuss career options, develop a job search strategy, write a resume, prepare for an interview, apply to graduate school, and identify networking opportunities. In addition to individual appointments, alumni are welcome to visit the office to use the resources including books, local journals and periodicals, networked computers, photocopier and fax machine.

Who does career services assist?In addition to current students, the Office of Career Services assists alumni free of charge.

How can I get help with my resume and cover letter?The Office of Career Services provides several resources on resumes and cover letters. We offer appointments for individual resume and cover letter reviews. In addition, there are numerous reference materials on resume and cover letter writing in the office.

What steps should I take to prepare for an interview?

Whether you are interviewing your first job or your fifth job, the interview is a very important part of your job search. The Office of Career Services has many resources available on how to interview and successfully land a job. We offer mock interviews to refine your interviewing skills and provide feedback on your responses. Visit the office to find books and publications on interviewing.

Where do I find out about job postings?

The Office of Career Services has an online job database College Central that can be accessed by all students and alumni. Keep in mind that almost 70% of jobs will not be advertised and that networking is often the key to uncovering job opportunities. It is recommended that you meet with a professional staff member to learn more about how to network and to find out about networking events in the community.

Where can I find salary information?

The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) publishes the NACE Salary Calculator which can be accessed at NACE Salary Calculator.

What if I am thinking about graduate school?No matter what stage you are in the discernment process, the professional staff can assist you with the graduate school application process including deciding whether or not to apply, how to write personal statements and tips and strategies for getting into the school of your choice.
