Two UP Holy Cross Men Profess Final Vows at University of Notre Dame Ceremony; Ordained to the Order of Deacon

guiney_kriepke_300.jpgTwo members of the University of Portland community were among a group of 10 Holy Cross religious who professed their final vows on August 26 at a Mass held at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. Both men also received their Master of Divinity from Notre Dame in 2023. 

Deacon Nicholas Guiney, C.S.C., holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Liberal Studies from Holy Cross College. During his time in formation, Guiney ministered to people of all ages with roles as a youth counselor, hospital chaplain, and assistant rector. After professing perpetual vows, Guiney will serve at UP in Campus Ministry and Residence Life. 

Deacon Tyler Kreipke, C.S.C., attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. He then went on to earn his PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Notre Dame. After professing perpetual vows in Holy Cross, Kreipke will teach in the Donald P. Shiley School of Engineering and assist with campus ministry at the UP. 

Rev. William M. Lies, C.S.C., provincial superior of the Congregation of Holy Cross, United States Province of Priests and Brothers, presided at the Mass and received their vows. 

The Congregation of Holy Cross was founded in 1837 in Sainte-Croix (Holy Cross), France, by Rev. Basil Anthony Moreau and has faithfully served the Church and the world for nearly 185 years. Today, approximately 1,200 Holy Cross priests and brothers are working to educate the minds and hearts of believers and unbelievers alike in 16 countries on five continents.
