Public Safety: Home
The University of Portland Public Safety Department exists to serve the campus community. Our mission is to support the University's primary objectives of teaching and learning, faith and formation, service and leadership by helping to promote, create, and maintain a safe, secure, and enjoyable campus environment for all members of the University Community and its guests. We are dedicated and committed to helping the University "create a civil place based on Catholic values and common good" (Student Handbook, 2).
Public Safety is located within Suite 100 in Haggerty Hall, across N. Warren St. from its previous location and near the Chiles Center.
Public Safety is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. At times, the front door of the office may be locked for security reasons. If you find the door locked, please use the callbox at the front door to be admitted.
For a description of the services provided by the Department of Public Safety, please refer to our Annual Crime and Fire Report on the Publications page.
Due to recent events, the Department of Public Safety understands that this question is prominent for everyone within the campus community.
In order to provide a learning resource for the campus community regarding how to respond to such an incident, the department has acquired Shots Fired On Campus a video that addresses the topic specifically from a campus perspective
You must have a valid pilots.up login to access this video.
Also, Ohio State University has an excellent video on the subject here
