Sexism and Racism in Disney Films
Watch a fascinating documentary that takes a close and critical look at the world Disney films create and the stories they tell about race, gender and class and reaches disturbing conclusions about the values propagated under that guise of innocence and fun!
Presentation on the Hispanic, Veterans and Homeless Population
Listen to Dr. Joane Moceri speak about health disparities among the Hispanic population in Portland as well as Joan Caley speak with regards to homeless veterans in our area.
Precious Knowledge Followed by Intellectual Discussion
Come watch Precious Knowledge, which documents the shutting down of Latino Studies at the Tuscon Unified School District.
Many Shades of Black
With help from UP's Communication Department Chair Dr. Jeff Kerssen-Griep, the Black Student Union will be looking at the various ways a person can identify as Black with particular emphasis on being biracial and bicultural. A panel of students who may or may not identify as "full Black" will share some of their experiences.

Transgender and Gender-Nonconforming Youth; They Get it, So Why Don't We
in a workshop that will address the unique needs of transgender and gender
non-conforming youth and how their needs and experiences differ from their
LGBQ, cisgender, and gender normative peers.
Understanding Racism: A Workshop
Multicultural Programs for a workshop put on by the non-profit Uniting to
Understand Racism. The workshop will explore the often unintentional or subtle
racial put-downs known as racial microaggressions and white privilege that are
experienced in everyday life.

Watch Marjane Satrapi's best-selling memoir, which highlights an amazing coming of age story set during the Iranian Islamic Revolution.
French Social Blunders and Culture
Ever wonder why it is foreigners are made fun of in other countries because of what they say or do in public? Come watch a humorous short skit (translated in English) about French culture, followed by explanation to highlight the main differences in French social culture versus other social cultures.

Walk and Candlelight Vigil in Honor of the women of Ciudad Juarez
MEChA in honoring the memory of the women who have died as a result of the
violence in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. We will walk around campus with traditional
pink crosses and candles and end at the chapel for a candlelight vigil and
reading of the names of the victims.
