Student Activities: Student Clubs and Organizations
Student-run clubs recognized through the Office of Student Activities may use the University's name in the identification of the organization and in the sponsorship of activities and events; request funding for events from ASUP; use campus facilities and services; and use staff resources for special assistance in program planning, promotional projects, and skills development. Clubs recognized by the University must have faculty or staff advisors who, in turn, are expected to oversee the smooth operation of the clubs and attend on-campus events held under the auspices of the club.
The University encourages development and registration of a wide variety of student groups, but reserves the right to deny recognition to any group whose purposes are incompatible with the University's mission and its Catholic identity. The University may also recommend that a proposed student organization be established under the auspices of another University office or program, rather than through the Office of Student Activities, if the proposed organization's purposes are determined to be closely affiliated with the mission of a particular program or office. For more information on the clubs listed, contact the assistant director for clubs and organizations in the Office of Student Activities, (503) 943-7470.
Clubs and Organizations Leadership Training Conference (COLTC)
The conference held on campus at the typically held at the beginning of each academic year provides student leaders with the information and training that will help prepare and ready them to run their club or organization.
REMINDER: All recognized clubs are required to send both the President and Treasurer (or equivalent) to this training conference. If either officer is unable to attend please send a club representative in his/her place.
This event is open only to club and organizations officially recognized by the Office of Student Activities.
Activities Fair
The Activities Fair is held annually during the first week of Fall Semester Classes. A showcase of extra-curricular campus groups, the Activities Fair is a great place to get involved with a club, club sport, honors society, or many other types of student groups. All clubs recognized by the University of Portland may reserve a table at the Activities Fair to advertise and recruit. Contact Activities Fair Coordinator Madiosn Blake for more information.
