Shiley-Marcos Center for Design & Innovation

The Shiley-Marcos Center for Design & Innovation began in the Spring of 2018 with a vision of a co-curricular resource center for engineering and industry partnership.  The 45,400 SF design, including specialized, flexible classrooms, makerspaces, interdisciplinary labs, and co-working spaces, was formulated with input across multiple University groups.  LEED Gold is anticipated, with the University's first solar array.  An extensive renovation and re-use of the old Physical Plant building's concrete retaining walls and structure is allowing the University to focus on carbon-saving potential for the project.  Construction began in the Summer of 2022 and a Spring 2024 completion date is planned.   The Shiley-Marcos Center for Design & Innovation is made possible by a generous lead gift from Darlene Marcos Shiley in memory of her husband, Donald P. Shiley.
